	5 minutes	Warm Up/Review	To set class rules and activate vocabulary.	None	Tell students the goal of the class and how they are going to be evaluated at the end. Then, with books closed, ask students in pairs to answer this question: Do you think fast food is bad for you?

Review the course material Unit 2 and answer the following questions about a lesson planning.

   a. How important do you think a lesson plan is to a successful lesson? What features do you think a lesson plan should include?

I think it's very important and effective a lesson plan for the success of a class, because that through this plan the teacher can trace his/her goals and see how can reach  these objectives with their students to develop a class in which the students learn significantly. Moreover I consider that an action plan should include the following features:

•  Step 1: Start in context:

 A good class consists of a theoretical and a practical part. It is important that when issuing the theory, first put in context to their students, that is, to show them the relevance of the topic today, the events parallel in other areas, the situation around the theme or historical character etc.

In this way, students understand that each subject, whether historical or present, has its cause and effect and a direct relationship with their personal and current experiences.

• Step 2: Delivery of knowledge:

Once put in context the student, the teacher must prepare the theoretical component of their class, carefully reviewing the literature you will use, considering the contrast of sources to provide different views on the subject. Also, you must choose a method of dynamic exposure, and enhance or improve their speaking and speaking ability not to bore their students.

The teacher should use various means to expose a subject, for example, exhibitions generated Newtenberg 1 in PowerPoint, videos or movies that reinforce the exhibition, using audio or interviews an expert on the subject, etc.

• Step 3: Application Exercises:

Having discussed the issue, you must perform application exercises to students. The application exercises are classroom activities related to the theme seen where it is expected that students are able to solve a word problem about it. The application exercises can be individual or group, it is important to be challenging for the student and are designed to measure the knowledge acquired and how apply that knowledge to solve real life problems

•  Step 4: Evaluation:

When speaking of evaluation must take into account not only the students should be evaluated. The evaluation should also apply to teachers. A teacher should be able to do a self-evaluation of its kind based on the recognition of factors such as space (the space was adequate for the exhibition theme?), Time (time was needed or missed?) And procedure (the methodology was consistent?). Likewise, when evaluating students, teachers should always keep as reference standards for each area of knowledge. There are clearly indicated what the expected outcomes are. We must not lose the north on learning: they must serve that students acquire skills but not to memorize information.

• The 5th step: Commitments 

At the end of each class are commitments between teacher and student, commonly called: homework. These appointments or tasks must ensure that the student use the various means at its disposal to pursue the subject seen.

The municipal public library, school library, Internet research, reading the newspaper, etc., are some resources to be taken into account. Likewise, teachers remain with the commitment to prepare their next class with care and enthusiasm. Your students will thank

   b. Do you think it is a good idea to strictly follow a lesson plan? Why?

I think it is a great idea, because through itself, the teacher can develop their classes with greater certainty and clarity and also can generates leadership among students and utilizes resources to develop the lesson plans.

  c. Some people think that lesson plans severely restrict teachers’ creativity. Do you agree? Explain your answer.

On the contrary, I think it helps the teacher to be more creative and the teacher develops better their classes, so that he can make a more active class than passive.

a. How important do you think a lesson plan is to a successful lesson? What features do you think a lesson plan should include?

I’ve always said that all buildings must have a base which allows it stand still during a tremor or earthquake. The same thing happens to the classes we teach. We are not working under construction sites but we are building knowledge which will help people to be future professionals.

Lesson planning is vital since the very first moment we decide to teach a simple class. If we don´t do it prior a lesson to be taught, we will be drowning in dangerous current which is called “Improvisation”. Not only us will feel uncomfortable but also students notice we haven't prepared ourselves ´cause they perceive we don´t know how to deal with this situation.

Teachers will feel confident with the knowledge they teach and of course planning is useful to organize the learning process step by step.   Regarding the features I can say that every lesson should be composed of Goals, Topics, Activities, Rubrics, Evaluation criteria and dates. These should all take into account the age and interests of the group designed:

• Goals: These aims will let the teacher and students know the horizon of the class.
• Topics: These themes name the knowledge to be taught and learned.
• Activities: These exercises will allow students to develop exercises which show how much they´ve learned in class.
• Rubrics: This tool allows students to know the way they must do their tasks at the moment of turning in each activity.
• Evaluation criteria and dates. These items are helpful since the moment the student begins his/her learning process. They also let students know “What” “When” & “How” knowledge will be evaluated.  

b.   Do you think it is a good idea to strictly follow a lesson plan? Why?

Actually, I think it would be good to follow strictly a lesson planning inside a context which allows students to be autonomous, but there have been bunches of changes that make us stop and wonder: Is knowledge a straight-jacket for insane people in a madhouse? I particularly disagree if many people think this way. Education and methods change from one community to another. We can´t hide our reality from a variety of learning processes.

Lesson planning will make us become leaders in this tough process called “Education”. This planning can organize our lessons, the way it goes and of course control the timing in which we develop our classes. I personally believe that it shouldn't be followed strictly in our field as English teachers.

c. Some people think that lesson plans severely restrict teachers’ creativity. Do you agree? Explain your answer.

I totally disagree with this view. Anyways, “Practice makes perfect” and the more people practice, the better they become. That's why I say that Lesson planning makes us correct mistakes, they let us get the knack of the teaching, and the way we should avoid possible students' gaps.

If we are dynamic teachers, we can interact with the students easily. We will see that creativity flows and our classes will be more interesting for students. They will be eager to expect their English class to come in order to learn more or have fun.

a.    How important do you think a lesson plan is to a successful lesson?

The lesson plan is very important because help at the teacher to have more command and control in the developed of the class.

The lesson plan indicate that the teacher prepared the class before to go to the classroom, also indicate that he has interest that the student learn.

In the case that the teacher can not to assist to the class, the substitute can developed with the lesson plan helps to instructor to organize time, materials, contents, instructional strategies and assistance in the classroom.

b.    What features do you think a lesson plan should include?

The lesson plan should have all the information of the course and the students as the teacher name, topic, and number of student, also it must have objective of the class.

The lesson plan should include:

•   Warm up: there are the previous knowledge

•  Introduction: Introduce the purpose of the lesson by stating and writing the objec-tives for learners and discussing the lesson content and benefits by relating the objective to learners’ own lives. Assess learners’ prior knowledge of the new material by asking questions and writing learners’ res-ponses on a chalkboard or flip chart.

•   Presentation: Teaches the lesson content  and concepts, introducing materials and information in different modalities as visuals, real etc.

•   Practice: the teacher can to work in groups or pair for to practice the learning in the class.

•  Evaluation: the teacher assesses each member´s attainment of the objectives.  The assessment can be oral, write or applied.

• Application:  provides activities that help learners apply their learning to new situations or contexts beyond the lesson and connect to their own lives

c. Do you think it is a good idea to strictly follow a lesson plan? Why?

Is good follow the lesson plan, but is necessary to leave a margin because the class can unexpected changes.

d. Some people think that lesson plans severely restrict teachers’ creativity. Do you agree? Explain your answer.

No. I think that the lesson plan generates creativity in the teacher, because while he prepare the lesson, he can create different activities and to make a creative and dynamic class.

Katy's Stage one

a.  How important do you think a lesson plan is to a successful lesson? What features do you think a lesson plan should include?

I think to have everything organized in the classroom we as a teacher must have a guideline, and that guide is our class preparation, that is our plan to teach a lesson, if we have everything organized we will develop and obtain excellent results for our pupils. That’s way planning a lesson is very important before teaching.

PLANNING A LESSON

First:

Greeting to interact and “break fears” to get a small interaction between teacher-student and students-students.

Second:

•  Develop the context of the topic

 Well, we explain to the grammar using interactive ways for them to understand and make the class funny and entertainment.

Third:

•  Develop activities

After the grammar explanation the teacher will ask activities according to the grammar to their students, as a method to see if they catch the topic correctly.

Forth:

•  Conversation and interaction:

Develop short conversations about the topic to make them interact in English, in this way they will not be afraid to speak another language inside and outside the classroom. The teacher ask about questions and more questions, easy questions for example: where do you live? How old are you? In this way students will be enrolled with the language little by little.

Fifth:

• Evaluation and motivation (feedback)

This is the last part of a lesson, but I will develop not as an evaluation but as a review and students don’t realize that is an evaluation, it will be interactive among students-students and teacher-students.

In motivation teacher says about how the students did during the lessons and what they should improve to get the goals.

a.    Do you think it is a good idea to strictly follow a lesson plan? Why?

Well, it is and it is not because as a teacher we must have very qualities, we must be phycology, and understand our students; we must have strictly when it refers about the context, evaluations, responsibilities students must develop but we cannot lose our sense of human being, be strictly but kind and funny at the same time.

a.    Some people think that lesson plans severely restrict teachers’ creativity. Do you agree? Explain your answer.

No, I don’t agree with that because we can plan a lesson but we can use different strategies for grammar explanation, we can play, sing and have an interacting class, but of course we must write everything in our lesson plan.

As a result of this work it is concluded that the lesson plan is the guide of the teacher for the develop of the class, but, this can change through of the class for to make it this more creative and dynamic. All this influence in the improving of the learning of the students and the developed of the teacher.
